Finger pointed at boy in Ohio microwaved-baby case

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) -- A boy who testified Tuesday for a woman accused of killing her baby in a microwave oven said he saw another boy carry the baby into a kitchen, heard the microwave go on, and then saw the baby burned in the oven.

The boy, now 8, said the juvenile who carried the baby into the kitchen then took the child and ran out the back door.

On cross-examination, the boy said the sun was out when the incident occurred. Two forensic pathologists have testified the baby died between 1:15 a.m. and 3:15 a.m. Aug. 30, 2005.

China Arnold, 28, is accused of killing month-old Paris Talley that morning.

After the boy's testimony, defense attorneys rested their case following seven days of testimony in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court. Arnold has pleaded not guilty to a charge of aggravated murder. She could face the death penalty if convicted.

Prosecutors have dismissed attempts to point the finger away from Arnold, saying a former cellmate of Arnold's claims Arnold confessed to her and described putting the child in the microwave.

A judge declared a mistrial Feb. 11 in Arnold's previous trial after he privately heard testimony from the juvenile who testified Tuesday.
