Marjory R. Shane

Aug. 24, 1924 - Oct. 6, 2008

Marjory R. Shane, 84, of Bellevue, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, at The Bellevue Hospital.

Mrs. Shane was born Aug. 24, 1924, in Bellevue, to the late Adolph and Minnie (Koch) Poths.

She graduated from Bellevue High School in 1942. She was a licensed cosmetologist and worked at Adrea'a Beauty Shop in Norwalk. She later retired from the former GE Lamp Plant, in Bellevue.

She was a lifelong member of the former St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ohio 4, rural Bellevue, and later became a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, in Bellevue. She was a member of Four County Young-at-Heart, and enjoyed supporting George's love of barbershop harmony music. She also enjoyed making eggs to hang on her trees; she was known as the Easter Egg Lady in Bellevue.

She is survived by her loving husband, George Shane, who she married Feb. 5, 1955.

Other survivors include her two nieces, JoAnne Austin and Beverly (David) Rogers, both of Bellevue; two great-nieces, Tracy (David) Vannest and Joy (Bill) Treat; four great-nephews, Jere (Patti) Austin, Jon Austin, Steven Rogers, and Michael (Cortney) Rogers; and 14 great-great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Karl and Vera Poths; an infant brother, August; an infant sister, Catherine; and two great-nieces.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 4-8 p.m. at the Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue.

Her funeral will be Thursday, Oct. 9, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellevue. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery.
