The lession...do business locally

To the editor:

Just how messed up this mortgage foreclosure situation is in the United States really is.

I have been having personal troubles the past few years and a first mortgage has been in my spouse's name, plus we have also taken a home equity loan through First National Bank of Bellevue. We had gotten behind on the first mortgage and then the non-stop harassing calls from this out-of-town mortgage company started coming. Penalties followed and I tried to resolve with no luck because they would not talk to me because my name was not on the first mortgage.

Needless to say it distressed me even more to the point where my health had become more of an issue. Working with our local bank I have tried to stop foreclosure and sheriff sale pending. Our local bank and nearby title office have been working feverishly to get a payoff in process to resume my life and take care of the mortgage. Then comes along the mortgage company again and says now from Sept. 11 to Sept. 24 you must pay an additional $6,000 penalty. Almost a 10 percent penalty in 14 days, where is the justice?

I guess the moral of the story is do business locally because there are snakes out there under every rock who don't care what, how, who it hurts.

Come on America, let's get it right. I am sure I'm not alone and my prayers are to save my house and health.
