Not a new tax...
Vote for school levy renewal
Read our print...not a new tax!
The Bellevue City Schools - our children, our future - deserve to have the $1.35 million tax levy renewed on Aug. 5.
While this paper has been critical of some decisions made by the Bellevue Board of Education, one thing the members have done well is keep a close eye on the school district's budget. Along with treasurer Nancy Beier, the board, administrators, teachers and employees have learned to do more with less.
Despite a poor economy, the loss of local jobs and the taxes that go with them, the district has kept a positive budget balance. Changes in programs, enrollment realignment and other cuts have meant NO NEW tax levy has been before voters since February 2001 - that is unheard of in public education in Ohio.
The levy renewal before voters on Aug. 5 was first approved in 1998 and renewed in 2003.
Local tax revenues account for 48 percent of the school district's budget - state and federal monies make up the rest. That is why the $1.35 generated by this tax is essential to keeping our current classroom, extracurricular programs and student services in place.
Vote YES on Aug. 5 for the Bellevue City Schools $1.35 million tax renewal.
