Vickerys celebrate 50th
Mr. and Mrs. Roger Vickery, 207-1/2 Madden St., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Sept. 27, with a trip to Michigan with their children.
Mr. Vickery and the former Rita Ruffing were married Sept. 27, 1958, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church by the Rev. Albert Bishop.
They are parents of three sons, Steve Vickery, of Republic; Brian (Diane) Vickery, of Clyde; and Chad (Tracy) Vickery, Bellevue; and two daughters, Shelly (Dave) Lindsey, Bellevue, and Cindy Vickery, of Clyde. They also have 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Vickery retired in 1993 from Whirlpool Corp., Clyde, where he had been employed for 41 years. Mrs. Vickery worked for the former Bellevue General Electric Lamp Plant for 17 years until its closing in 1984. She then worked 10 years for the former Fanny Farmer Candy Co., Norwalk. Following her retirement, the couple moved to Arizona before moving back to Bellevue in 2001.
For their trip to Michigan, the couple was surprised to find they and their children were going to be traveling together in a large motorhome, driven by Eric Frey, a friend of their daughter, Cindy. In addition to their children, they were joined by a grandson, Jeremy Lindsey, and his wife, Jessica; and by Kathy Headley, a friend of their son, Steve. The enjoyed a special breakfast prepared by their children at the start of the trip and a family dinner where anniversary cake was served.
In addition, they recently returned home from a week's trip to the East Coast with their son, Chad, his wife, Tracy, and their sons. The trip took them through Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and the shores of New Jersey.
