Smiths celebrate 50 years
NORWALK -- Mr. and Mrs. Richard "Gene" Smith, 1133 S. Norwalk Rd. W., Norwalk, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family party in Baltimore, Ohio, and a trip to the Geneva/Seneca Falls area of New York.
Mr. Smith and the former Barbara Jean Agee were married Aug. 30, 1958, in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Fremont.
They are parents of four children, Patrick (Ruth) Smith, Bellevue; Michael (Sue) Smith, Baltimore, Ohio; Kelly (James) Dreger, Hilliard, Ohio; and Kate (Pete) Faylor, Auburn, Ind. They also have 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren in Ohio, Indiana and Texas.
Mr. Smith began teaching science at Bellevue Junior High School in 1971 and retired from teaching middle school science in the Berlin-Milan School District in 1995.
Mrs. Smith also retired in 1995 with 36 years' experience in teaching, the last 20 of which were teaching fourth graders at Lyme Elementary School and Ellis Elementary School, in Bellevue.
