Reading is cool

Last week, students at Shupe and Powers Elementary schools celebrated Right To Read week.

Powers Elementary School principal Paula Roth spent the week going to second and third grad classrooms to read with all of her students.

The second graders read "Eve of the Emperor Penguin," while the third grade chose to read "Night of the New Magician."

As a reward for all of their hard work throughout the week, the students were treated to a magic show by Gordon Russ in the gym which lasted for about an hour on Friday.

Shupe Elementary School children were also rewarded for their hard work. A naturalist with the Lorain County Metroparks talked to students in grades K-1 about interesting things they have discovered all across the county. (Photo by John Lasko)
