"The Diviners" is a play that takes place in Zion, Ind., during the Dust Bowl and Great Depression in 1932. It is a pivotal year for citizens in the United States; one of the most important elections in U.S. history, Herbert Hoover vs. Franklin Delanoe Roosevelt, is about to take place.
The small town of Zion is a close-knit community of farmers, hardworking townsfolk, and a boy named Buddy who experienced a near-death experience as a small child, traumatizing him for life. Because of this, he is so sensitive to water that he can sense its presence anywhere, especially with the help of a divining rod. His life is changed when a stranger named C.C. enters Zion, looking for work.
