Brownings celebrate 50th anniversary on trip to Ireland

Wayne and Kaye (Joyce) Browning recently hit their 50th wedding anniversary milestone on Aug. 2, 2008. They were married at the First Evangelical United Brethren Church in Lorain in 1958, the Rev. Paul W. Kirk officiating.

The family celebrated with a dinner at Chez Francois in Vermilion. Sons, Scott Hardesty from Lehigh Acres, Fla., Tim and wife Sue from Portland, Ore., and Robert and wife Quynh Chi from Middleburg Heights, and granddaughter Jessica Browning, joined them in celebration. A party for 80 friends, neighbors and family was held Aug. 3 at DeLuca's Place in the Park. Special guest was Ruth Haff. She and her husband, Ray Haff, introduced the couple to each other in 1957 and she was the soloist at their wedding. The couple are the grandparents of Jessica Browning and David and James Browning.

Mr. Browning taught school in various systems for 35 years retiring in 1984 from the Lorain School System. He is a longtime member of the Lorain Elks 1301, an avid reader and gardener.

Mrs. Browning retired June 30, 2008, after more than 11 years working at the Amherst Building Department as secretary to the Planning Commission and Zoning Board. This job was her retirement job after she spent 30 years in Corporate America in the computer business. She enjoys photography and walking in the park. They went on a trip to Ireland in September as their anniversary gift to each other.
