Last Saturday, the Wauseon VFW Post #7424 hosted a special dinner to present the winners of the Voice of Democracy speech winners and the Patriot's Pen essay winners. Special guests included Ohio Jr. Vice Commander Gerald Ward, Ohio Ladies Auxiliary President Meg Klaameyer and Matthew Drake who delivered a stirring talk. Bill and Irene Cochrane, married for 68 years, were crowned he 2010 Fulton Manor Valentine King and Queen on Feb. 12 at a Valentine's Day party. The King and Queen are selected by a majority vote by staff and residents. Socks collected 
Mrs. Warncke's and Mr. Beck's classes at Wauseon Elementary School participated in a service project for the organization, Hannah's Socks. Hannah's Socks is a non-profit organization  that gives warm socks to people in need. The socks will be distributed to homeless and domestic violence shelters in the Midwest, including offices in Toledo and Cincinnati. The classes collected socks during the holiday season in coordination with a business letter unit they were learning in class. Students wrote letters to area businesses asking for socks as a donation. The classes collected 707 pairs of socks.
