Common Pleas Court Judge James Barber administers the oath of office to county officers starting new terms of office this year. These included (l-r) Sheriff Darrell Merrilat (beginning his 7th term), Commissioner Paul Barnaby (beginning his 3rd term), Clerk of Courts Mary Gype (beginning her 9th term), County Treasurer Beverly Schlosser (beginning her 2nd term), County Recorder Sandra Barber (beginning her 4th term), Commissioner Dean Genter (beginning his 3rd term) and County Proscutor Scott Haselman (beginning his 1st term). Unable to attend, but to be sworn in later were  County Coroner Dr. Harry Murtiff and County Engineer Frank Onweller. The Wauseon VFW made a donation of a projector to be used in the crime prevention program. Making the donation is post commander Lawrence Hite. In honor of ÒJustice in America Young Indians win tourney
The Wauseon Junior High wrestling team competed in the 12 team Toledo Central Catholic dual meet tournament this past Friday, Jan. 2.  The Indians wrestled very well and won five dual meet matches in a row to capture the Team Championship trophy.                                Indians win tourney
The Wauseon Indians captured the Buffalo Wild Wings Tournament Championship on Saturday with a 45-37 victory over Evergreen. The Vikings won the previous meeting between the teams. Years of service awards
Dave's Sand and Stone, Inc., dba Grieser Transportation, honored employees with service awards at their recent Christmas party. Joe Horwath, Jason Grieser, Dick Neill and Christina Avina received 15 years of service awards. Dave Grieser recieved an award for 30 years of service. Winter's arrivel came in and gave us all a big, cold announcement that it was here for real. Despite the snow followed by rain and ice covering roads and making driving difficult, the winter weather also provided a bit of recreation for county youth. Above, some kids took advantage of the icy snow to slip and slide. There was just a bit of confusion on this icy run down Homecoming Park's hill Sunday as some kids found themseleves going in opposite directions.
