Gillette receives SBC
The Sandusky Bay Conference released its football honors for 2008 last week with Alex Gillett as the Outstanding Performer of the Year for a second year.
The Fliers also has three players named to the First-Team Defense and five players named to the First-Team Offense.
Clyde High School seniors Jarad Branski, lineman; Drew Beebe, linkbacker; and Gillette, defensive back, all received First-Team Defense honors.
First Team Offense honors went to Gillette again for quarterback and Branski, tackle.
Three other Clyde players named First-Team SBC Offense are juniors, Kyle Smetzler, end; Kade Kramer, running back, and David Weisz, guard.
Gillette was an unanimous choice for both First-Team defense and offense. Branski and Weisz were also unanimous choices by the SBC coaches for First-Team Offense.
The Fliers also picked up Second-Team Defense honors with Smetlzer, lineman; and senior Tyler Ludrowsky, defensive back.
Second -Team Offense honors also went to junior Gage Goble, tackle.
Fliers sophomore Gabe Gilbert received SBC honorable mention.
Others receiving First-Team Offense honors in the SBC were: Tyler Dix, receiver, Perkins; Matt Lehrer, receiver, Huron; Craig Thorne, running back, Huron; Dylan Howard, running back, Edison; Tyler Owens, center, Perkins; Mike Likes, guard, Huron; and Anthony Quinn, tackle, Huron.
Other SBC players recognized for First-Team Defense were: Michael Jordan, lineman, Perkins; Cameron Fulford, lineman, Huron; Chris Chicotel, lineman Huron; Andrew Fantozzi, linebacker, Huron; Nico Caponi, Linebacker , Perkins; Evan Kurt, lilnebacker, Margaretta; Tyler Dix, defensive back and specialty, Perkins; Jed Cullen, defensive back, Margaretta; and Matt Lehrer, defensive back, Huron.
