Firelands Yesterday

The Sandusky area has enjoyed a long and rich tradition of providing compassionate, quality healthcare to area residents. The community leaders and healthcare professionals of the three original hospitals -- Good Samaritan, Providence and Sandusky Memorial -- realized the wisdom of combining their talents and resources to create the vision of Firelands Regional Medical Center. Today, Firelands Regional Medical Center continues the proud tradition of delivering quality healthcare to all residents.

Firelands Today

Firelands Regional Medical Center is a locally managed and governed, not-for-profit healthcare facility that provides a full range of allopathic and osteopathic medical services to the 178,000 residents of Erie County and the surrounding communities in our secondary service area, including Huron, Ottawa, Sandusky, Wyandot and Seneca counties. Firelands Regional Medical Center is dually accredited by The Joint Commission and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). It is the only medical center in the five-county area that offers an Accredited Chest Pain Center and a full service cardiac care program.

The Firelands Regional Medical Center is a leader in providing physicians and patients state-of-the-art equipment and technology, including:

Firelands Physicians

The Firelands Regional Medical Center Medical Staff consists of over 200 doctors representing 40 specialties and subspecialties. Firelands provides a Medical Education Program which has evolved throughout the years to become one of the most outstanding and respected training programs in Ohio. The hospital prides itself on the quality of training provided on various levels for both allopathic and osteopathic physicians.

Firelands Regional Medical Center is in process of completing a $147 million expansion project. The expansion includes a five-story enclosed parking garage, a state-of-the-art Cancer Center, and a five-story patient tower, known as the East Tower, with 83 patient rooms and 13 operating rooms with prep and recovery areas.

To showcase the new East Tower, Firelands Regional Medical Center will be hosting a Community Open House on April 27, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
