Members of the Green Springs School show choir, ÒThe Troubadours", earn a first place at a recent competition. (Submitted photograph)

Troubadours earn high ranking

The Green Springs Elementary School Show Choir, "The Troubadours," attended a music festival and competition on May 24.

The Troubadours are comprised of 37 sixth graders who auditioned last fall to be in this select group. The competition took place at Briar Middle School in Sandusky and concluded with an awards ceremony that was held at the Point Pavillion inside of Cedar Point Amusement Park.

Two adjudicators, college music professors, judged each group's performance. The Troubadours earned a first place trophy with a Superior Rating in their category of "Elementary Show Choir."

They also earned the trophy in the "Best Overall Choir" category, scoring higher than the other elementary and middle school choirs who attended the competition.

The Troubadours are under the direction of Traci Newsome.
