Warehouse

KF Ventures completed one step toward the construction of a new $3,225,000 warehouse on Norwest Drive.

Clyde City Council approved an ordinance, 5-0, Tuesday night allowing for a tax abatement for 15 years for construction of a 132,000- square foot building.

With council's approval of the proposed 100 percent tax abatement package for KV Ventures on new real property, the agreement now goes to the Sandusky County Commission for final approval.

The abatement would require KF Ventures to continue its current employment of 45 employees in Fremont, Clyde and Sandusky County and the addition of two full-time and two part-time employees for the new warehouse.

KF Ventures would also keep its current payroll of $375,000 in the county.

City Manager Dan Weaver explained, "I was contacted by Tom Kern on Saturday that he would like to fast track this project."

The new warehouse would be east of another warehouse constructed on Norwest Drive nearly a year ago, Weaver said.

"They figure they are going to need another two to four employees in this building." the city manger added..

In lieu of the current economy, Weaver said the city appreciated the economic growth.

"Even this amount here is appreciated," he said.

In other business, the council gave first readings to other ordinances as follows:

*A contract between the city and GGJ Engineering Services for the engineering services for $18,400 for a waterline on Spayd Road.

Weaver said the city environmental services superintendent, Don Ball, would like to install the water line in 2009.

"At least we can get the design engineering out of the way and the go for EPA approval," Weaver said. "It will run from the credit union south to Suttons, the last house annexed in.".

*A agreement between Clyde and GGJ for engineering for sanitary sewer design along Premier Drive at a cost not to exceed $23,482.

Weaver explained that the sewer line needs to be designed in anticipation of the new middle school being constructed off Limerick Road. The sewer line for the new school would be extended off Premier Drive from behind the new building. The city industrial park adjoins property where the school will be built.

"I think we should at least go a head and get the design work done," the city manager commented. At this point, he noted, he does not know who will be paying for the sewer line extension for that project.

Weaver added that a water line already exists in that area.

Council then approved, 5-0, an ordinance after two readings for the re-issuance of $1.6 million of municipal income tax notes for the construction of the swimming pool. Notes were issued in November 2007 mature Nov. 13, 2008.
