3 dead as boat capsizes in Lake Erie off NE Ohio

CONNEAUT, Ohio (AP) -- Three men have died in a boating accident in Lake Erie off the northeast corner of Ohio.

Their boat capsized Thursday night about 8 miles north of Conneaut (KAW'-nee-awt), where the men's truck and boat trailer were located later.

The Coast Guard withheld the names of the victims until their families could be notified. All three men were wearing life jackets.

Petty Officer Bill Colclough (KOHL'-kloh) says the Coast Guard is trying to determine why the 18- to 21-foot skiff capsized in good weather. The lake temperature was about 74 degrees.
