Dorothy A. Olivares
Dorothy Ann (Young) Olivares, 81, Sandusky, died Monday, July 21, 2008 in the Stein Hospice Care Center.
She was born May 20, 1927 in Clyde, the daughter of Lewis Franklin and Pearl Marie (Beatty) Young.
She retired in 1985 from Georgia Pacific in Sandusky after 23 years of service. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Sandusky, and served as a Sunday School teacher, president of the Flossie Women's Circle, helped with Bible School and served bereavement dinners. Later she attended the Church of the Nazarene in Sandusky, where she was active in church activities and the Senior Citizens Group.
Survivors include her daughters, Sandra (Larry) Graham of Springfield, Mo., Debra (Mark) Vassar of Sandusky, Diane Staab of Sandusky and Barbara (George) Johnson of Sandusky; a son, Timothy (Carla) Olivares of Sandusky; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Mae Gilbert of Castalia; and a brother, Ernest Young of Sandusky.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Walter Olivares in 2007; a sister, Evelyn Pocock; and six brothers, Thomas Young, Fred Young, William Young, Frank Young and John and James Young in infancy.
Visitation will be (today) Wednesday, July 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Toft Funeral Home and Crematory in Sandusky.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 24, at 1 p.m., at the Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene in Sandusky, with Rev. David Flack officiating. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
