Issue 6 must be rejected

The proposed casino law being proposed for the State of Ohio is not all that it's cracked up to be.

At a time when we are seeing businesses closing, we recommend that voters remain cautious and not believe adding a casino will solve serious state problems. The state has survived the Great Depression, multiple recessions and the "rust belt" era of the 1980s - and done so without casinos.

Issue 6 adds language for a single casino operation into the Ohio Constitution and that seems unfathomable - why would Ohioans want or need such a section built into the main governing document of our state.

The arguments about where Ohioans money is going and about so-called "loopholes" in the proposed law are not the central issue.

The state has tourism, agriculture and natural resources that should be enough to continue to aid our economic growth with the right leaders in state office. We do not need a casino and its associated problems here.

The Fraternal Order of Police of Ohio agrees that Issue 6 is not in the state's best interest. That organization is not against gambling in Ohio, but is specifically against this proposal, which the FOP of Ohio notes does not included accountability or local control.

On Nov. 4, vote "No" on Issue 6.
