Public hearing set for VEI permit renewal
Ohio Environmental Protection Agency will hold a public information session and hearing on Tuesday, May 20, to accept comments on draft permits for four liquid waste injection wells at Vickery Environmental Inc.
The public information session and hearing will begin at 7 p.m. at the Sandusky County Board of Health Offices, 200 Countryside Drive in Fremont.
During the information session, Ohio EPA representatives will present information about the draft permits and answer questions. During the hearing, which will immediately follow the information session, the public can submit comments for the record regarding the draft permits. Ohio EPA will consider all relevant comments before making a final decision on the permits.
The draft permits are for injection wells numbers 2, 4, 5 and 6 at the Vickery Environmental facility located at 3956 Route 412, Vickery.
Renewing the permits will allow the company to continue disposing of commercially generated hazardous and non-hazardous liquid wastes about 2,800 feet under ground.
The draft permits include some new and revised conditions and requirements. Underground injection control permits must be renewed every five years.
Ohio EPA will accept written comments on the application draft permits through May 27. Anyone may submit comments or request to be on the mailing list for information.
