The Lady Fliers were shortened to two games this past week by weather, but they made the most of them with two more Sandusky Bay Conference wins including one over Oak Harbor April 28 that vaulted them into a tie for first place in the SBC. The other win came April 30 at home against Edison.

This week the Lady Fliers will be in action on Wednesday, May 7 (today) at Margaretta and again back home on May 9 against St. Mary's . The girls are on the road again against Perkins on May 12.

The Lady Fliers knew what they wanted and they also knew that it was located in Oak Harbor. That something was a piece of the SBC softball title that had eluded them despite a gaudy 12-1 record.

Consider it mission accomplished as they downed the Rockets 2-1 behind the pitching of Brooke Billings, who raised her pitching record to 13-1 and knocked the Rockets from the ranks of the SBC unbeaten as the Rockets fell to 6-1 in the league.

Billings struck out 10 Rockets in going the distance while allowing two hits and two walks and a run. Liz Weber took the loss for Oak Harbor in the pitching duel.

Offensively the Lady Fliers were powered by Aliesha Boonie, who smacked a two-run home run over center field driving in herself and Aurora Garcia in the top of the sixth inning. Kaila Strausbaugh, Nicole George and Nikki Bryant also had singles.

Brooke Billings fired a no hitter as the Lady Fliers won a run rule shortened game 10-0 over Edison on April 30. The win raises Billings and the Lady Fliers record to 14-1 and 7-1 in the SBC.

Billings pitched five innings allowing no hits or runs while striking out one and walking none. Katelyn Fischer took the loss for Edison.

At the plate, the Lady Fliers were led by Aliesha Boonie who had three hits with a double and triple and drove in four runs. Kay Elfring had a double and drove in three runs.

The Lady Fliers scored three runs in the first inning, two in the third inning four in the fourth and one in the fifth to close out the Chargers.
