Clyde girls up 12-1 with three SBC big wins

The Lady Fliers ran their record to 12-1 overall and to 5-1 in the Sandusky Bay Conference with three big SBC wins this past week.

The Lady Fliers defeated Margaretta at home on April 21, St. Mary's Central Catholic on the road April 23 and defending SBC champions Perkins at home on April 24.

You can catch the Lady Fliers in action April 30 at home against Edison or on the road May 2 at Port Clinton or at home May 5 against Huron, who gave the Lady Fliers their only defeat so far this season.

The Lady Fliers started the week out right with an 8-3 win over Margaretta (3-7, 1-3 SBC) Monday night at home.

Brook Billings raised her record to 9-1 with six innings of work. Billings gave up six hits and no runs with four strikeouts and no walks. Chelsea Turner pitched one inning of relief. Courtney Parr took the loss for Margaretta.

The Lady Fliers scored three runs in the second inning on an RBI double by Lauren Meyer that scored Nikki Bryant and two unearned runs. They then scored three more in the third inning to go up 6-0 on another RBI by Meyer and one by Kaylea Griffin and another unearned run. The Lady Fliers added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Margaretta scored three unearned runs in the top of the seventh inning with the help of two errors.

The Lady Fliers pounded out a 12-1 win over St. Marys Central Catholic on Wednesday on the road to raise their record to 11-1 overall and to 4-1 in the SBC. SMCC falls to 3-14 and to 0-6 in the SBC.

Brooke Billings earned the win for the Lady Fliers with a three hitter. Bollings struck out seven while walking none. Kim Lewis took the loss for SMCC lasting only three innings of the run rule shortened game that went five innings.

Kay Elfring was 3-for-4 with two RBI's and a run scored. Aliesha Boonie had two hits with a triple. Morgan Gray had a triple with three runs scored and an RBI.

The Lady Fliers defeated defending SBC champions Perkins Thursday night at home 6-5 to raise their record to 12-1 overall and to 5-1 in the SBC.

Both teams scored a run in the first inning but the Pirates broke the tie with three runs in the second inning to go up 4-1 before the Lady Fliers made it 4-2 with a run in the bottom of the second inning. The Pirates made it 5-2 with a run in the top of the fifth inning but the Lady Fliers came up big with four runs in the bottom of the fifth .
