The Fliers baseball team was shortened to two games this past week by weather and the Fliers had no luck in either one of them as they lost to Oak Harbor 4-3 April 28 and then lost to Edison 10-7, April 30 at home.

You can catch the Fliers in action on Wednesday, May 7 (today) at Margaretta or at home May 9 against St. Mary's or back on the road again against Perkins on May 12.

The Fliers baseball team took another hard blow to the chin On Monday, April 28 when they lost to Oak Harbor in another key SBC game 4-3. Wade Ishmael hit a walk-off single driving in two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to wipe out a Flier win.

When you add that to the Edison grand slam in the last inning earlier in the season, it leaves the Fliers in a big hole that they seemingly had won their way out of. With the loss, the Fliers fall to 12-5 and 4-3 in the SBC. Oak Harbor improves to 8-4 and 6-1 in the SBC.

Alex Gillett took the loss for the Fliers after relieving Rob Shell with one out in the seventh inning. Shell pitched 6 1/3 innings of good baseball allowing only five hits while striking out eight and walking two. Unfortunately, two of the hits, a double by Damian McAtee and a single by Josh Warnke, came in the crucial seventh inning.

Oak Harbor scored a run in the bottom of the first inning, but the Fliers went back up 2-1 with a pair of runs in the top of the third inning.

Clyde's Drew Frazier scored the first run on a passed ball after singling to get on base. Tyler Ludrowsky scored the second run on a sacrifice fly by Jacob Andrews after reaching base on an error.

The Fliers made it 3-1 with a run in the top of the seventh inning before Ishmael made a winner of Phil O'Shea who was relieving Cody Grotz. Andrews scored the Fliers' last run on a sacrifice fly by Alex Gillett after reaching base by a single.

Offensively for the Fliers Drew Frazier had a pair of hits, Tyler Ludrowsky, John Castaneda and Jacob Andrews all had hits and Andrews had a sacrifice fly as did Alex Gillett. Joel Meyer had a pair of walks.

The Fliers made an attempt to come back against Edison Wednesday night but the rally fell short and the Fliers suffered a 10-7 loss to Edison. The Fliers trailed 10-3 going into the bottom of the fourth inning but scored four runs to make it a 10-7 game and left the bases full when the inning ended.

Tyler Ludrowsky (2-1) took the loss for the Fliers pitching three innings while giving up eight hits and nine runs, seven earned while walking two. Frank Alafita and Alex Gillett both pitched in relief. Cody Koelsch got the win for Edison.

John Castaneda was 2-for-4 with two RBI's. Gillett was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI's. Jacob Andrews was 1-for-2 with a double and two walks. Zach Stanley was 1-for-4. Jarad Branski was 1-for-1. Tyler Clouse was 1-for-1 and Drew Frazier was 1-for-4.
