The Fliers were demoralized on April 14 when they lost to Edison on a walk off grand slam to open the Sandusky Bay Conference.

Clyde rebounded to defeat Port Clinton on April 16 at home and Huron April 18 on the road.

You can catch the 8-3, 2-1 SBC Fliers in action on April 23 at St. Mary's Central Catholic; at home April 24 against Perkins; or on April 28 at Oak Harbor.

The Fliers were feeling pretty good about themselves on April 14 at Edison High School. They held an 8-6 lead over the Chargers (2-2) in the last of the seventh inning in the opening SBC game for both teams. That was before Taylor Emody of Edison ripped their hearts out with a walk-off grand slam and a 10-8 win. The Chargers had already rallied from a 5-0 hole earlier in the game.

The Fliers scored a run in the first inning and four more in the top of the third inning for a 5-0 lead before Edison tied it at 5-5 with five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Both teams scored a run in the fifth inning to make it 6-6. The Fliers then set up their final lead with solo runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

Cory Schmidt got the win for Edison in relief while Rob Shell took the loss for the Fliers in relief dropping to 2-2.

Shell did have the answer for Edison at the plate going 4-for-4 with a double, home run and three RBI's. John Castaneda, Jacob Andrews, Alex Gillett, Ethan Ott, Drew Frazier and Joel Meyer all had hits for the Fliers. Meyer also had an RBI.

Joel Meyer helped to ease the pain of the April 14 loss to Edison with a grand slam of his own to help the Fliers get back on the winning path with a 10-3 win over Port Clinton. The grand slam helped the Fliers overcome a two-run deficit. The win moves the Fliers to 7-3 on the season and to 1-1 in the SBC.

Rob Shell pitched five innings to get the win for the Fliers. Shell did not allow any earned runs and struck out five batters with three hits while not allowing a walk. The win raises Shell's season record to 3-2. Derek Wieber took the loss for PC.

The Fliers took a 1-0 lead on the Skins in the first inning, but PC bounced back with three runs in the top of the second inning to go up 3-1. The Fliers then went back up 5-3 on Meyer's slam in the bottom of the third inning. The Fliers added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to lead 8-3. The Fliers then capped the scoring with two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Offensively, Meyer added a single to go with his home run and four RBI's. Shell continued his torrid hitting going 3-for-3 with two RBI's. Shell has had eight hits in his last nine at bats. John Castaneda was 3-for-4. Jacob Andrews had a double and Jarad Branski hit a home run.

The Fliers then traveled to Huron on Friday and it turned out to be a good trip as they defeated the Tigers 7-4 behind the pitching of Tyler Ludrowsky and Alex Gillett. Ludrowsky went 5 2/3 innings giving up four runs on five hits.

Gillett earned a save in the game with a nifty piece of relief work but gave a little cause for concern when he hit the first batter he faced in the head to load the bases before ending the threat. Gillett was perfect after that. Ryan Krumlauf took the loss for Huron.

The Fliers led 2-1 after one inning but Huron scored single runs in the second and third innings to lead 3-2 after three innings. The Fliers made it 3-3 with a run in the fourth and then scored two more in the fifth inning to go up 5-3. Huron scored a run in the sixth inning to make it 5-4 but the Fliers closed it out with two insurance runs in the seventh inning.

Gillett also had a hot bat going 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI's. Joel Meyer had two hits with a double and an RBI. Zach Stanley was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

On April 8, the boys had a 5-1 win over Woodmore (1-2) after suffering their first loss of the season April 7 to Tiffin Columbian. The win moves the Fliers to 5-1 on the season.

Alex Gillett earned the win from the mound for the Fliers with six innings of work. Gillett gave up two hits, one earned run and struck out nine batters with four walks. Corey Witker took the loss for Woodmore.

The Fliers took a 1-0 lead on the Wildcats with a run in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single by Jacob Andrews that scored John Castaneda. Woodmore tied it up at 1-1 with a solo run in the top of the second inning and that's the way that it stayed until the Fliers came up with four big runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to put the game away.

Andrews also got the Fliers' sixth-inning rally going with another base hit and scored on a throwing error. Gillett scored the second Flier run of the inning on an infield single by Rob Shell. Shell then scored on a Wildcat error. Joel Meyer scored the final run on a sacrifice fly by Drew Frazier.

Andrews was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Shell was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Castaneda was 1-for-3 with a pair of stolen bases and a run scored. Meyer was 1-for-3 with a double. Jarad Branski was 1-for-3.
