Local library sees increase in services, usage in '07

The Clyde Public Library saw a 12 percent increase in library card holders in 2007 over the previous year.

With 4,642 adult card holders and 1,704 juveniles, the total number of card holders last year was 6,346.

The library also reported that their circulation of items such as books, movies and audio reached 114,230. That was an increase of 4 percent over 2006. Circulation recorded items taken out by adults: 80,654, and juvenile, 33,666.

Library patrons checked out 77,507 books and magazines plus 36,723 audiovisual items.

In 2007, the local public library offered 124 programs to the community and 4,733 people attended the programs.

Clyde Public Library also saw an increase in computer use at the facility at Buckeye and George streets.

There was a 12 percent increase over 2006 last year in adult Internet Workstations use. The library reported 10,080 people made use of the stations.

At the Juvenile Internet Workstations, 7,925 youth logged on. Which was a 3 percent increase over 2006.

At the Study Room Workstations, 1,142 people made use of the service for a 26 percent increase over 2006.

At the Children's Learning Stations, 200 people made use of the library service.

In 2008, Clyde Public Library plans no building expansions.

The Board of Trustees and staff will continue to emphasize providing excellent library services to those who visit the Clyde Public Library, according to a press release. Toward that end, present services will continue to be evaluated and new services provided as the need arises.
