In 2008, The Clyde Enterprise is recognizing its 130 anniversary of publishing a weekly paper for the Clyde Community.
In January the newspaper publisher Tom Smith announced a new General Manager, Becky Brooks, and a new Advertising Manager, Becky Polley.
Also in January 2008, The Clyde Enterprise launched its new webpaper at www.ourtownsnews.com. The new web site includes many of the same articles that appear in the Wednesday newspaper and it is updated by noon Wednesday each week. The website also includes additional local photographs in its local photo and sports galleries.
Brooks, who has been the editor of the newspaper since December 1997, replaced Jack Trainor, who retired in December 2007. Brooks will serve both as editor and general manager for the Wednesday publication, which is part of Brown Publishing.
Polley, who has a 32-year history in advertising sales, also replaced Trainor in handling display advertising for the weekly in Clyde.
She worked for the Gazette Publishing Company from 1984 through 1992 as a sales representative and advertising manager. "Then I went with Hirt Publishing as vice president of marketing," Polley said. She remained with Hirt through 2001 and returned to Gazette Publishing in 2002.
She had served as general manager of Gazette Publishing and conducted various special projects for the company.
