Walz attends D.C. forum
Clyde resident, Kendahl Walz, a seventh grade student at McPherson Middle School, spent her Spring Break in Washington, D.C., where she attended the People to People World Leadership Forum. Walz, along with fellow delegates from around the world, participated in tours of Capitol Hill, the Supreme Court, Williamsburg, Jamestown, and other sites including the Lincoln, Jefferson, World War II, Vietnam, and Korean War Memorials. In addition, the forum visited several museums including the Holocaust Museum, the Smithsonian, and the Spy Museum.
Throughout the course of the program in Washington, D.C., Walz learned about leadership and how great leaders throughout history have handled world events. Various hands on activities, professional speakers, workshops, and visits to significant memorials, museums, and monuments gave Walz a new perspective on the importance and essential need for informed, passionate world leaders.
"My favorite part of the program was meeting people from all over the United States and from other countries. We were busy all day - from 6:30 in the morning until about 9:30 at night. I learned so much about history and the leaders of our country and the friendships I made will last a long time," commented Walz.
People to People World Leadership Forums offer students a unique blend of specialized educational, leadership, and cultural exposure through a variety of programs as well as an itinerary filled with the highlights of the hosting community. She was nominated for the Forum by Hal Harden, her sixth grade teacher at Green Springs School
