"Working for the pantry has done a lot for me as well as the other people who work at the pantry," Naomi Conley told nearly 35 people at the annual Clyde Business & Professional Association banquet on Saturday, April 19.

Conley was presented with the crystal eagle award for Outstanding Community Service by Frank Weasner, a Clyde BPA past president. The dinner was held at Harvest Baptist Temple and catered by the church.

"As far back as many can remember she is involved with The Back Door Food Pantry, helping again with a monthly dinner for them," Weasner pointed out about the award winner. Conley's other community involvements include being president of the Clyde High School Alumni Association, aiding with funeral dinners for the Moose and directing funeral dinners at her church, St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was also active in numerous other church activities, including Stephen Ministries and Auto Angels.

"The thing I see is for them to see a little care and love," she said. In accepting her award, Conley said she worked with her church to offer a free monthly dinner to food pantry users. Like others, the price of gasoline has hit those families hard - and some cannot afford to attend the dinner. She said families are even asking the pantry to provide two visits' worth of food at one visit each month to save on travel costs.
