Toledo Symphony performs
'Silver Screen Classics'
Communities for the Arts presents The Toledo Symphony performing music from the silver screen on at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 19 at the Clyde High School auditorium.
Some of the highlights of the concert, conducted by Chelsea Tipton II, include:, A Tribute to Henry Mancini, Highlights from Rocky, The Producers, Greatest Hits, Pirates Medley, Adventures on Earth from E.T., and Tara's Theme.
During the evening there will be three soloists featured. Those will include Violinist Kirk Toth, who earned his Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree at the University of Michigan and was the recipient of the school's highest award, the Stanley Medal.
Another soloist is Kimberly Bryden, who has been Principal Oboist and featured chamber musician of the Toledo Symphony since 1985. She is an active teacher on the faculty of the University of Toledo.
The third solist is Jocelyn Langworthy, the second clarinetist of the Toledo Orchestra. She has performed at many summer music festivals including Tanglewood, Aspen, the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan and the Festival dei due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy. She has also performed with the New World Symphony, most notably on their tour of South America.
Tickets are available at the Clyde-Green Springs Board of Education from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
