Siren testing slated
VICKERY - The Townsend Township Fire Department announced their siren will be tested every Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. The test will be activated in Clyde by the police dispatchers, according to a press release.
On the first Saturday of every month the Tornado Siren is also tested by the Sandusky County Sheriff's Communication Center.
The fire department advises families to review their tornado and fire safety plans with children this month.
Arbor Day Ceremony
The Clyde Landscape Committee will celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, April 25, at 2 p.m., at the Clyde City Hall on the Duane Street side.
Roger Hart, horticulturist and owner of Mole Hill Farms on West Maple Street, will be the guest speaker.
A crabapple tree will be dedicated to Ruth Scheerer, age 99, and a long-time teacher here in Clyde.
In case of inclement weather, a later date will be announced.
Meeting changes
The Clyde Planning Commission has canceled its May 1 regularly scheduled meeting due to nothing being scheduled for the agenda.
The Clyde Park and Recreation Board has set a special session for Monday, April 28 at 7 p.m. at the Clyde City Building in the second floor conference room. The regular April 21 board meeting was canceled due to the lack of a quorum and reschedule for April 28.
A Tree City once more
Clyde has been named a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation to honor its commitment to community forestry.
This is the 24th year Clyde has received the national recognition.
The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.
Clyde has met the four standards to become a Tree City USA community: a tree care ordinance, a comprehensive forestry program and an Arbor Day observance.
Last chance for 'Mom'
The Clyde Enterprise needs to know why your "Mom" is the best. The newspaper staff is looking for people to put their thoughts into words this spring in time for Mother's Day 2008.
Entry deadline for "The Best Mom in Clyde Contest" is April 25 - entries must be in The Enterprise office, 109 N. Main St., by 5 p.m. that day. Essays must be legible and may be up to 150 words.
All entries must include a completed coupon, which is available today on page 12 of the newspaper.
Mother's Day prizes will be awarded in three age categories for the writers. Essay writers must be: Ages 11 to 14; ages 15 to 18; and adults.
A first and second place prize will be awarded in each category, which the winners are to present to their "Best Moms".
Enterprise deadline is Friday
Advertising and article submissions to The Clyde Enterprise must be submitted by noon on Fridays to our office at 109 N. Main St., Clyde, for the next Wednesday issue.
Garage sale and all advertisements must be submitted to the office by noon Fridays as well.
Garage sales advertisements must be prepaid before publication. Articles covering weekend sports may be delivered before 8:30 a.m. Monday for the Wednesday edition. News and sports items are included as space is available.
