Naomi O. Miller

Naomi O. Miller, 79, Clyde, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at the Valleyview Nursing Home in Fremont.

She was born Jan. 9, 1929 in Huntsville, Alabama, the daughter of Robert and Cassie (Gibson) Steelman. She married Gordon "Jack" Whitaker, then married Robert D. Miller on June 23, 1989.

She graduated from the Huntsville High School in 1946 and later received her Associates Degree in Accounting from Terra Community College. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clyde, where she had served on numerous committees, including being the chairperson of the Membership and Evangelism and a member of the United Methodist Women. She worked for the Clyde Cutlery, Peter Eckich Co. and then retired from Prepared Foods, all in the accounting field.

Survivors include her husband, Robert; her four children, Sherry K. (Tom) Jackson of Kettering, Debra Blodgett of Fremont, Jack C. Whitaker of Columbus and Paul (Erin) Whitaker of Lindsay; step-children, Larry (Carolyn) Miller of Hopington, Mass., Randall (Cathy) Miller of Franklin, Tenn. and Amy (Ramon) Skeels of Prescott, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lucille Ramona Neal; and a brother, Robert Steelman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Gordon "Jack"; a son, Arthur Whitaker in 1978; and a brother, R.A. Steelman.

Visitation was one and a half hours prior to the funeral service on Friday, May 2, at 10:30 a.m., at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St. with Rev. Dennis Rinehart officiating. Burial was in McPherson Cemetery.
