Those Aussies may be right

It seems clear some people don't learn.

Week after week we keep reporting that Clyde Police are breaking up bar fights or underage parties.

Yes, our police are here to keep the public peace. But should they really have to chase down young adults who do not understand alcohol regulations or moderation.

Or should taxpayers be forking up money to pay for local police to be pounded by 20 and 30 year olds who imbibe past their limits. Then there is chasing those who drive after drinking, putting everyone else at risk.

We like the idea some Australian officials came up with recently. They are considering billing a 16-year-old who had a wild party that caused police to respond to noise complaints in Melbourne.

Police cars were damaged, the neighborhood was pelted with glass bottles plus 30 officers, a dog squad, and a helicopter were called out to deal with the really wild, wild party crowd that grew to hundreds.

No one was reportedly arrested.

Australian police say their costs could top $20,000. Maybe billing for damages and police services here may force parents and adults to think twice too.

Those people Down Under have some great ideas.
