Time to tie a yellow ribbon

Valentine's Day is over. Christmas is long past. The election is March 4. But we seem to be forgetting something.

One local mother has put many of us to shame this week by pleading with people to remember our soldiers still fighting overseas.

She even convinced her boss over in Bellevue to allow them to sell big yellow ribbons at cost just to get them out in the public. Although she has one daughter home, she like many other mothers and fathers, wives and husbands, and children, still have a loved one fighting in Wars in Iraq or Afghanistan.

When the United States jumped into these wars Ol' Glory was flying - yellow ribbons donned trees and poles. It's been a long time - emotionally, politically - since we engaged in these wars. The American public got tired of war just as the extremists predicted.

Admittedly it may not be the best time of year for flag waving in Clyde, Ohio, but imagine how tough it is in Iraq for the troops. We should be ashamed.
