In shape for a new decade

Inside today's newspaper there is a section called "Clyde: A Community for Tomorrow".

After compiling on this progress section, it is apparent that we should be counting our many blessings. The biggest one has to be having a plant like Whirlpool Corporation located in our community.

Anyone who is a recent Clydite will learn we function around Whirlpool and many people live by the plant clock - whether they work there or not.

With that said, the second blessing this community has is its people. People here care about their neighbors, and they put forth an effort to make sure the next generation of local residents has a nice place to live, work and grow up.

The residents and the community government - current and past - have on the best days been thinking ahead - five, 10 and 20 years ahead. That also goes for our school district too.

By 2010-11, our community will have new schools opening. We will have a new park pool, good streets and sidewalks, sound utilities, local Internet, great parks and more.

Clyde will continue to be the community where families still want to live.
