Another reason to be proud
We have always been pretty proud to report that local people often think of others.
It must be in our predominant blue-collar makeup. When you look at the size of Clyde and the Village of Green Springs, it is amazing that we have large community parks, a local senior center, and two beautiful public libraries.
With about 10,000 people in our joint communities, it is amazing how many active civic groups we have and how many parades we hold.
In our towns it has always been about making life better for the children and being "family friendly" - even before the term was coined.
On March 4, 57 percent of our voters approved a 23-year, 1-percent earned income tax to pay for new schools.
Knowing how generous and giving our community members are, it was no surprise the school project tax passed.
We understood that a majority of local voters would not surrender the opportunity to give local children new, sound school buildings.
By about 2010-11, we all should be able to see those tax dollars in the form of four new or renovated schools.
Once completed, those schools should help secure that families will continue to enjoy living in our community for the next 50 years.
