Every Mom should have her own day

After receiving the numerous entries for our Best Mom in Clyde contest, it is obvious we have some wonderful mothers in our community. Not everyone could be a winner of our contest, but some of the thoughts about what makes a "Best Mom" are still worth sharing from the essays.

"She helps us do our homework each night before ball practice and makes sure we eat supper as a family," one young man wrote.

"...She is a single parent raising us four kids on her own. She works long hours to make sure we have everything we need," one girl noted about her mom.

"From my point of view, my mom is a pretty terrific person. Even after all the stuff she has to put up with from my brother and I, she still manages to keep her sanity," a teen wrote in one entry.

"The last thing I love about my Mom is whenever we're down, she's right there to pick us back up ..." an 11-year-old pointed out.

Whether you are an adult or a child, Moms play a central role in your life and in our community. We have single Moms, married Moms, young Moms and experienced Moms.

They are the ones who hammer you about homework, tuck in the tag in the back of your shirt, tell you to tie your shoes so you won't fall, cry as you get on the bus your first day of school and become your friend when you grow into an adult.

Dads will have their day in June, so on Sunday, May 11 take the time to remember Mom.
