OSS to sponsor household collection

FREMONT - The Ottawa-Sandusky-Seneca Joint Solid Waste District is sponsoring a Household Hazardous Waste Collection on Saturday, May 3, 9 a.m. to noon.

Those with a last name with A through M come from 9 to 10:30 a.m.; and those will a last name starting with N through Z, 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Locations are the Sandusky County Health Dept. parking lot, 2000 Countryside Drive, Fremont; and the Seneca County Agriculture Service Center rear parking lot, 3140 S. St. Rt. 100, Tiffin.

The following paint and related products will be accepted during the collection in containers no larger than five gallons: Latex and oil based paint, sealers, primers, coatings and spray paint aerosol cans; (Any paint can that is completely dry can be disposed of in your regular trash);

Household pesticides (bug and rodent killers), Herbicides (weed killers); Insecticides (bug killers), fungicides (mold killers); Varnish, polyurethane and shellacs, wood stains, primers and strippers, paint thinner, turpentine, kerosene and lighter fluid;

Household cleaners (oven and drain cleaner, and muriatic acid); Hand-held propane cylinders; Household batteries; Automotive fluids including antifreeze and motor oil; Fluorescent bulbs and Compact Fluorescent bulbs; Mercury - solids and liquids, and thermostats;

Ink Cartridges, Phone Books and Tennis Shoes - address OSS Solid Waste District staff as you enter the collection site and keep separate from materials listed above.

No construction materials .

This is a household collection only. Materials from businesses or institutions will not be accepted.

Also note that any paint can that is completely dry can be disposed of in your regular trash.
