Bellevue residents who want to play a few holes of golf do not have to travel far. Twin Lakes Golf Course in conveniently located within the city limits on Decker Street.
In June the course was purchased by a group of Bellevue residents who wanted to improve the course. Owners include Rodney and Tasha Cook, Tony Maltese, Jeff and Carol Haynes, Wally and Pattie Perry, Jeff and Laurie Fox, and Robbie and Amy Robinson.
Changes have already been noticed on the course. New equipment for mowing was purchased and the fairways and roughs are mowed regularly. The sand traps were redone and new markers were placed around the course. Trees and bushes were trimmed and the pond was cleaned.
The owners have goals for the upcoming year. They hope to create more leagues including working with the Bellevue Recreation Department to create a youth league, organize fund-raising golf outings to support local charities, and make changes to the dry pond on the course.
Changes will also be made to the clubhouse. The addition of a patio and porch will allow visitors to eat outside and view the course. By the end of the summer, they hope to have a year-round restaurant open. The expansion of the dinning area will also allow for it to be rented out for private parties and the improved kitchen will be open for catering services.
Twin Lakes is only a nine hole course, but it offers a fun family atmosphere close to home. One person can play nine holes with a cart for $15. There are also daily specials including Tuesdays and Thursdays two people can play nine holes with a cart for $20. On Saturday and Sunday two people can play nine holes with a cart and sandwich and drink for $26.
The Bellevue community has responded to this change at the golf course. In its first month open, the course has doubled its visitors, say the new owners. This group of Bellevue residents is committed to helping out the community. They have already created six full-time positions with more to come.
The course opens at 7 a.m. and anyone with questions about prices or the food services can call Twin Lakes at 419-483-2842.
