Rick and Judy Journay feel community support and involvement are very important. As part of that commitment to Bellevue, the couple recently gave $10,000 toward the new athletic fieldhouse being built at the Bellevue Senior High School.

"The new training facility being jointly built by the Athletic Boosters and Gridiron Foundation will be a wonderful addition to the school. It will free up much needed space in the high school for activities and classes and provide students a safe place to properly train, practice and meet," said Rick, a local dentist. "Extracurricular activities are very important to a student's overall school experience and the benefit from this addition will be immense."

"When we moved to Bellevue in 1980, we were right out of college and didn't know anyone. We found Bellevue to be a very welcoming, friendly and helpful community," said Judy, who owns JJ Custom Apparel, a local embroidery and screen printing business. "Our businesses have been successful and we've enjoyed living and raising our children here."

The Journays' three sons - Justin (2000 BSHS graduate), Jimmy (2002 BSHS graduate) and Jon (2005 BSHS graduate) - were very active in athletics at Bellevue.

"The support the community shows is wonderful. Whether we need a new hospital, band uniforms, money for the Back-To-School program, clothing for the Clothing Closet, food for Fish & Loaves, gifts for the Christmas Giving Tree, the citizens of Bellevue always step up to meet the challenge," said Rick and Judy.

"The Athletic Boosters and Gridiron Foundation are to be congratulated for improving the quality of the Bellevue educational experience. We are proud to be a part of this worthwhile project and encourage everyone to get involved as this building is being totally funded by private donations," the Journays added.

The boosters and foundation welcome tax-deductible donations of any amount. There are currently several ways to give to the fieldhouse project - Red Level, $2,500 and up; White Level, $1,500 and up; Silver Level, $1,000 and up; and Grey Level, $500. Naming rights for a room start at $10,000. These levels will be displayed at the fieldhouse.

To make a donation, make a check payable to the Bellevue Redmen Fieldhouse, c/o Bellevue Athletic Boosters, P.O. Box 486, Bellevue, Ohio 44811.
