JACK MORAN

John "Jack" Moran

Dec. 25, 1938 - June 28, 2008

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Jack Moran, 69, formerly of Bellevue, died Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Alamo Heights Nursing Home in San Antonio, Texas, of cancer.

He was born Dec. 25, 1938, in Bellevue, to the late Edward and Florence (Dymond) Moran. Although he moved away in 1966, his heart never left Bellevue.

Jack graduated from Bellevue High School in 1956, where he lettered in four sports. He played football at The Ohio State University (B.A. 1960) and received his M.B.A. from the University of Toledo in 1964. He married Patricia Crocker (McMahon) in 1958 and later Pat Houseman.

His passions included reading, jogging, cooking, and watching sports. Everyone felt at ease in his company and enjoyed his lively conversation and wit.

He worked as an accountant for Marathon Oil, Ford Motor Company, Xerox, and the Internal Revenue Service. An illness forced him to retire in 1996. Although life was not the same for Jack after 1996, he continued enjoying life against many odds.

Jack is survived by one son, Mike Moran, San Antonio, Texas; a daughter, Mary Moran-Parker, and son-in-law, Vince Parker, Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, Jack and Lily Parker, Austin, Texas; a sister, Maureen Boyer, and brother-in-law, Jim Boyer, Northridge, Calif.; a niece, Liz Boyer, of Northridge, Calif. and nephew, Matt Boyer, of Lewisville, Texas.

A memorial ceremony will be held in Austin, Texas.

Special thanks to Patricia Crocker and to Pat Houseman and her family for the care shown to Jack over the past 12 years.

In lieu of flowers or donations, cards or notes may be sent to P.O. Box 12641, San Antonio, TX 78212 (Mike Moran); or to marymoranparker@gmail.com.
