Huron Garden Tour
HURON -- Area garden lovers are invited to attend the annual Huron Garden Tour, Saturday, June 28, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sponsored by the Huron Historical Society, the tour will include a luncheon served on the patio of the residence of Bob and Sharon Barnes, the owners of Barnes Nursery. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Six unique Huron gardens will be featured on the tour this year:
* The backyard of Steve and Charlene Baron is a wonderful example of small space gardening in a patio setting designed for entertaining.
* Hidden behind the swimming pool in the yard of Wayne and Sandy Foster is a secluded pond complete with a soothing waterfall and an array of colorful flowers.
* Joyce and Richard Pohl's recently constructed home features several charming gardens full of flowering shrubs and annuals.
* The traditional gardens highlighting Deborah Cain's Victorian home in Huron's Old Plat area recall the spectacular color and fragrance of historical gardens.
* An attractively landscaped deck and numerous planters add to the beauty of Dawson and Julie Foster's waterfront home.
* The stunning perennial gardens of Lisa and Jim Rhenish provide a continuous bloom of color from spring to late fall.
The cost for the garden tour and luncheon is $22. The cost for the tour only is $10. Tickets/maps can be purchased at the following Huron businesses -- Curves, Ace Hardware, Barnes Nursery, and the Huron Chamber of Commerce or by calling Patti Smith at 419-433-5738. All proceeds will benefit the Huron Historical Society.
